SAIYAM Digital
A platform for preventive addiction education in schools
Overview
SAIYAM Digital is a learning and engagement platform designed to support addiction-prevention education among adolescents. The platform enables schools to conduct structured awareness programmes that help students understand the harmful effects of addiction and build healthier life choices. Through digital documentation, activity tracking, and school engagement tools, SAIYAM Digital supports the implementation of the SAIYAM Olympiad across participating schools.
Problem & Solution
The Problem
Adolescents face increasing exposure to tobacco, alcohol, drug abuse, mobile phone addiction, online gaming, and other behavioural dependencies. Despite this, schools often lack structured programmes to help students discuss addiction openly and responsibly, leaving young people without the tools or space to critically reflect on these challenges.
The Solution
SAIYAM Digital provides the digital backbone for the SAIYAM Olympiad. The platform enables schools to register teachers and mentors, enrol students, upload activity evidence, and track participation across a four-stage learning model: Awareness, Reflection, Expression, and Action. By combining digital documentation with school-level activities, it creates a transparent and measurable record of student engagement.
Implementation
The platform is deployed across 200+ schools in Pune and surrounding regions, implemented in partnership with DIET Pune, Pune Municipal Corporation, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Parivartan Trust, and Tarachand Ramnath Seva Trust. Students engage in creative activities including poster-making, street theatre, awareness rallies, group discussions, wall magazines, and pledge campaigns. Over 1,400 activities have been conducted across participating schools.
